Personal thoughts:
I can't share too much background info about this particular drawing. This was commissioned by a friend.
I'm still not very good at all at getting the likeness of people on paper, but maybe I do add a little bit of my own style to them nonetheless. I started to get a bit creative with the hair in some parts and at others I just got lost and drew whatever
. The picture was really really contrasted: , so a lot of details were gone, which wasn't so bad since then I didn't have to worry too much of it looking humanly detailed 
I really liked the style of the photo, though, so I was glad to work on it, even though it meant setting aside personal projects.
Materials:
about 12.5X24.5cm Cardboard Opalina
HB, 2B 0.5mm mechanical pencils
4B regular pencil
Regular eraser

Time: no idea, worked on it for about two months little by little
Some technique things:
highlights and white hairs are just drawn around, and sometimes erasing, and drawing around erased area to create background again. Used PhotoshopCs4 for minor editing(scanner dust, adjusting scan, etc.)
